A Death. And a Rebirth.

Following is a story of a fellow traveller

I died that day in the Mexican djungle. It’s cliche. Words are just not adequate in the face of an experience completely obliterating your reality and reassembling outside of yourself. Death is ok, it comes for all of us but it is only the beginning. The more often you die, the easier it is.

Mother Ayahuasca, the Medicine will find you at the right time.

My Ego death was the 50th birthday gift to myself. I travelled around the world for this experience. It was the wildest experience of this lifetime to date and my birthday lost all of its importance, some congratulated me on it after the ayahuasca ceremony. All I could do at that point is not burst out laughing at the ridiculous notion.

Thank You to Rene, the Shaman

It would not have been possible without your guidance to go with the medicine. I understand now why you need a shaman. Thank You brother, fellow traveller. At the time of writing this Rene can be found with Xanga Guru in Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Complete Surrender

Waiting, following the Shaman’s actions. He starts off opening our circle, saying his thanks for the medicine and spiritual guidance, following his rituals. Mother Ayahuasca is stronger than You are. Stronger than I am.

As I was given the medicine at first, nothing happened. The drink was bitter but to me somehow tasted fine, I did not have to fight any immediate rejection of the drink. The anticipation was big, but I had freed myself of any expectations.

Slowly it creeps up on you. The Shaman provides the perfect soundscape for the journey. I cannot tell you the sequence but he went from chanting and drums to singing bowls small

To The Rhytm of the Drums, the chanting

They are all very straight forward as you read them but applying them regularly is incredibly hard. The truth is that applying these rules challenges your Ego self. You have spent most of your life building your ego, to build your understanding of yourself. You have been trained to be somebody, then you went on to be trained to be somebody special. Your Ego cherishes the problematic, problems help to define yourself. Today rather than being confronted by your daily repetitive problems you are presented with positive solutions. Whether you are aware of it or not, your Ego will actively discard what you have learnt here today. Even if you apply a rule successfully and subsequently make valuable new experiences – in a few weeks or months you will have “forgotten”. You don’t really forget but you discard the truth of these rules and regard them as a belief system which is much easier to look upon as nonsense. The problematic Ego will reassert itself. But can you ignore a functioning set of instructions on how to live life to its potential?
